Week 8 - and the lord said: "Let there be Universal RP"

This week we continued with our work on the game in a steady fashion. All the machine models got implemented into the game, the audio issues are fixed and got some new sounds implemented into the soundscape. The production lines started working and the timer got implemented into the game which also means a win condition!

Audio:

A big issue that was bothering us from the start was fixed this week. Now every point sound in the scene got its very own special attenuation while its panning is fixed to the side of the split-screen it is coming from! Footsteps are implemented and are temporarely timing based until a movement animation gets implemented into the game. Every machine in the scene got their own unique ambience as well.

Art:

We made a big change to the game this week.. or rather a correction? Up until this point we had no proper render pipeline in our game... oops. We now added the URP (Universal Render Pipeline) that is most often used in Unity.  And after A LOT of troubleshooting the lighting finally looked somewhat decent and we were able to add some ambient occlusion to the level. This made a big difference to the look of our game and we should have done this from the very beginning, but better late then never eh.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Now aside from lighting, we also properly implemented all the machines to the factory (plus some missing machines like the splitter and hoppers), with their colourful textures and cartoony shaders.

Dev:

Collision Physics for Money: Ever wondered what it looks like when money literally bumps into more money? Wonder no more! We’ve added some nifty collision physics to the money in the game, so now it behaves just like you’d expect – piling up in satisfyingly realistic ways. It's all about those details that make our game world come alive!

Quota System: We've implemented a quota system to keep you on your toes. Meet your targets to reap rewards and show off your money-printing prowess. But now the only way to spend it is by hire worker, but later with sabotages, player can spend more as they wish.

and some little menu and end screen.

What's next?

Animations, a glow up to the game, sabotages (not irl ofc), more sound stuff (ex. adaptive music) and just more spectacle in general.
